The concept of the “Sustainable Tourism”, is a new vision… that places in our hands the care of the environment and indigenous culture for the enjoinment of Future Generations.

At the Hosteria San mateo, we are not waiting for the government to create laws to enforce our good judgement.

Sostainable Tourism asks us to respect the local native communities and encourages us to save them from the loss of their identity. It challenges us to utilize our natural resources more efficiently.

At the Hosteria San Mateo, we realize that all the daily operation of our business have an impact on our environment. and local native communities. Therefore, we pledge:

• to use our local resources better, to promote savings, and to be more efficient in all of our operations,
• to continue recycling natural waste to feed our worms, which produce organic fertilizer, which is used on our vegetable garden, and
• to use the Internet and electronic documentation more to reduce the waste of paper.
• For the Hosteria San Mateo, it is very important to identify ourselves with our local native communities, for that reason, we pledge:
• to continue to use products and services from people of local native communities nearby, and
• thereby bolster their economy, and the continuation of traditional practives and crafts.

We are extremely proud of our culture and our nearby Indian communities. We want our tourist to understand their importance of our native communities and we want to foster respect of our culture.

The Hosteria San Mateo is doing many things to implement the goals of sustainable tourism but we hae a lot more to do and a lot more to learn in order to keep improving our process.
